About the St. Louis AeroPilots |
The "AeroPilots" club was started in the early 1980's
as a non-profit organization by a group of R/C (radio controlled) model
airplane enthusiast's as a place to swap information, ask questions,
socialize over a cup of coffee, or just talk R/C airplanes.
Meeting Location
Club meetings are held once a month on the third Wednesday of the month. We meet at two different locations depending on the time of year. During the winter we meet at 7:00pm at:
- Young's Restaurant and Ice Creamery

During the summer we meet at Buder Park at 7:00pm.

Advantages of Membership
Some of the advantages of membership are:
- The "AeroPilots" is an Academy of Model Aeronautics chartered club.
- The amount of the AMA (Academy of Model Aeronautics)
insurance doubles as a member of a chartered club without any additional
cost to you.
- Make new friends with a diverse group of people with
the same interest.
- A forum where you can ask "How To" and sometimes get
several different (good) ideas.
- Members bring their new models to the
meeting and tell us the good and bad of building the model. The "Show and Tell" can include:
- RTCs -- Ready to Cover
- ARFs -- Almost Ready to Fly
- Kits -- precut balsa kits that you assemble, glue, and cover
- Scratch built -- you do everything: cut the balsa, assemble, glue and cover
- A "Build a Plane Contest" for all levels.
- A BBQ in the fall with contests and a big raffle.
- Meet the club flying instructors and get help in selecting equipment and learning (lessons are free).
Dues
You can become a member by being voted in during your first meeting.
Dues are twenty ($20) dollars a year. Children less
than sixteen (16) years old get free membership when accompanied by a
paid adult member.
